Friday April 8th, 2011

Josh switched over to a wheelchair this week which requires him
to support much more of his own posture and torso. We can see it
strengthening his core and neck already. It also has hand rails
so he can begin to slowly propel himself around the ward.

Josh will have tendon release surgery in his ankles in the next few
weeks. This will enable him to stand on his own and begin to walk again.

Josh is standing in PT (on his toes) as his ankles have limited flexure.
We think once he is up on his feet, he will have another accelerated
functional gain.

Thanks for all the cards, emails and prayers.

Love,
The Bonjos

  2. So wonderful to hear, and see, the progress Josh is making.

Today at dinner, I overheard people talking about how they felt addicted to fruit because they couldn't stop eating it - and I couldn't help but think of Josh and his grape addiction.

    Love to you all.

  3. Hi Bonjos-

What a great image of Josh! I can't wait till he can come home and be surrounded by all his familiar things. I was thinking today about the ornaments Josh helped me finish at Christmas and the funny faces he drew on them- I saved those for Toshi and John, so we still have them! It was a fun day. Way to go on all the hard work and progress,Josh!

  5. Hi Josh,

We've been thinking of you so much lately and we're sending you every bit of love and strength available. I thought Obama looked great in his "yes I can" poster but you bring new meaning to "super hero!"
    Love Nancy C and family
